Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to. Some services may not be available in your area.

Sexual Health Service

The South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust Sexual Health Service is based at the Downe Hospital, Downpatrick, with additional clinics in Bangor and Lisburn. You do not have to be referred by a doctor. We provide free sexual health care and advice for all age groups, including testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and genital conditions. Urgent and non urgent appointments are available, and the service is strictly confidential.

Podiatry

Podiatry is an Allied health profession, devoted to the study, diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower extremity.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy helps people of all ages with a disability, illness or injury. Physiotherapy can improve physical problems including loss of strength, movement and function. Physiotherapists work with babies, children and people of all ages and abilities to prevent illness or recover from injury helping people to be as active and independent as possible.

We offer specialist support services in Belfast and throughout Northern Ireland including homelessness prevention, accommodation services, health, well-being and practice development and young people's support services.

Condition Management Programme Team

Are you struggling to start or remain in work due to a physical and/or mental health condition? If yes, then the Condition Management Programme (CMP) could help you. This is a 12 week programme of short, work focused, cognitive educational interventions aimed at helping clients to understand and manage their health conditions. A multidisciplinary team of health professionals work together to offer clients help and support to cope with single or multiple health conditions.

Occupational Therapy Learning Disability Service

The Community Occupational Therapy Adult Learning Disability Service provides interventions to adults over 18 who have been formally assessed as having a learning disability. The service operates as per of the multi-disciplinary teams within four locations: Antrim/Ballymena, East Antrim, Mid Ulster and Causeway.

Addiction NI is an operating name of The Northern Ireland Community Addiction Service, a registered charity providing treatment and support for people who are dependent on alcohol or drugs. We provide tailor-made treatment programmes for people with drug or alcohol problems, delivered in community settings.

The Dementia Navigator service supports people to live well with dementia by working in partnership with those being diagnosed, their family members and the community to create a better understanding of the condition
