Patient Triage FAQs
As we continue to strive to offer the best service to our patients, we will be trialling this service over the next few months here at Redwood Surgery.
What is Patient Triage?
Patient triage allows GP surgeries to receive information directly from a patient concerning their medical concern via an online form. These requests will be triaged by a GP Partner here at Redwood Surgery. This process allows the surgery to ensure patients with the most urgent needs are appropriately treated with the right clinician. You may not need an appointment, you may be re-directed to services outside of the practice (for example, the pharmacy), or have tests requested before you come and see a doctor or nurse at the surgery.
When can I access the form?
This is currently in the trial stages and will run Monday – Friday 8.00am – 2.00pm.
What happens after I submit a query for a medical issue?
Medical queries will be submitted to one of our GP partners. A member of our admin team will respond to you within 24 hours. Conditions that need to be assessed on the same day will be prioritised. A member of our team may send you a request for further information in the form of a short questionnaire specific to your issue or you may be sent you a Self Booking Link, this is enable you to book a future appointment.
What happens if I need an urgent appointment?
Conditions that require a same day assessment will be booked in on the same day or directed to an appropriate service. A member of our admin team will contact you directly to arrange an appointment after your form has been triaged.
Will I get an appointment quicker if I speak to reception instead?
Our reception phone lines are very busy, our Patient Triage service offers another way in which you can contact the practice securely.
I don’t have a computer or smartphone. How can I fill out a form?
A friend, relative, or carer can complete this form on your behalf. If this is not available to you, or you have communication needs which prevent this, then please ring reception on 02891 638700.
I have a smartphone but I am not sure how to find the form.
Our admin team will be able to assist you and demonstrate how to find the form. We will have a QR code which we can show your how to scan on your smartphone to go straight to the form.
Can a friend, relative, or carer do the form for me?
Yes. On the form, there is a box where we ask you if the form is being completed by somebody else. Please note that we will only be able to reply back to yourself regarding your care as the patient unless there is confirmed consent on your medical record.
